Well Cindy, I am somewhat in the same situation.  However, my lap-band slipped.  I found out back in May that my band has slipped and the Dr. wanted to do revision with bypass.  Reason being, he felt the band is not the way to go now since he would have to put it much higher and that would probably not give me a good result.  I have gained back 32lbs of the 90 lbs I lost on the lap-band.  Yes very depressing.  Dr. called yesterday to say I was approved for the revision.  It didn't take much work for me since I have really good insurance.  I had to go through the nutrition and psych eval again, but that was done just 1 1/2 weeks ago.  Got call yesterday that I am now approved for surgery.  I will be going in for the revision on 9/29/09.  I am terrified though. For some reason this surgery just makes me so nervous, even though I have much faith in my Dr. and have previous major surgeries before without complications and without being nervous.  Don't know why just scared.

I think from what I have heard it depends on the insurance on how things go.  I feel I might be one of the lucky ones as far as insurance.  Check with you Dr's office, they should be able to give you an idea of how things work according to your insurance carrier.

Good luck
Tammi

Topic: anemic??
Hi,
I had blood work done a few months ago and found out I was anemic. So I was put on iron pills
3 times a day. After a month my iron has gone up from a 7 to a 9. Not good. Now I have to go through all kinds of test to find out why. Everything else is good. In fact my B-12 shots have been changed from every month to every 3 months. White cell count is perfect, liver, gall bladder, kidneys are perfect. All other levels are good. So my PCP who I love, is trying to find out why. He thinks I might have a small bleed some where like in the bowels or small  intestines. (No bleeding in stool) Or maybe an ulcer. Or maybe I injured myself somehow. A few months ago I was carrying something heavy and I felt something pull around the new belly button area. (I had a tummy tuck in Nov.) It was quite painful for several days. My doc said it was a pulled muscle or possible scar tissue. It doesn't bother me anymore. So now I have to have the lovely colonoscopy and a endoscopy at the end of the month. Other than that I am just tired from the anemia., I won't let it get me down though. Life goes on. And I am not ready to roll over yet!!!
Take care all,
Sarah

Topic: Hip Replacement
Hi Everyone I just want to give you an update on my health..Most of you know that I have now lost 135 lbs. I am now having hip problems it turns out I need left hip replacement surgery on August 11,  well they found out through blood test that I may have an infection in that hip and so on Monday I have to go to Hartford Hospital and have fluid taken out of the left hip to see if there is infection...by the way they take the fluid out by a looooong  needle then they will let me know if my surgery date will need to be changed or not... (I just got the call there is no infection and the surgery is still on for Aug 11  I will be in HH until the Friday Aug.14th then I will be going into Woodlake Nursing home for 10 days - 2 weeks for the Rehab....

Hi everyone
I had wls on 1/10/05/  lost 70lbs. but put 15 back on and no matter how much exercising I do or how much I diet I can't seem to take the weight off.  I was wondering if anyone has had a revision and if so what is the protocol.  I am at my wits end and am getting very depressed because of it.  If anyone can give me some advice on what to do I surely would appreciate it

Thank you for your time,
Cindy

Hi everyone! I go to a nice support group at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London, CT.  It is based out of the Yale New Haven Hosp. program but all are welcome.
The group meets on the 3rd Wed. of each month in an out of the way classroom.  You will need to stop at the main desk to find out how to get to it.
I hope to see all of you this month.

Laura
