Congratulations on making the decision to have WLS. What procedure do you plan on  having?

Even though you do not have to do the six month diet it is a good idea to start making some small changes in your eating and drinking and exercise routine. Look over all the info you have been given and get familiar with what kind of program your doctor will have you on.

Wishing you all the best for a clean bill of health and a quick approval from your insurance company.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions here, I am sure someone will be around to offer their support and advice.

ps. My WLS (RNY) gave me my life back.

It can take a while for the insurance company to review your case but if you have not heard in a few weeks I would give a call  and ask if they have reviewed your case or need any other info from you or your doctor.

Best of luck

Welcome back and congratulations on your beautiful daughter Rachael.

Don't be scared, get on that scale and face the music. Now is the time to start, don't wait any longer. Stay away from all those empty liquid calories and and get back to basics, protien first! no drinking with meals you know the drill. Go take that baby out for a walk every day if you aren't already. You can get back in  control, just take small baby steps and don't give up.

All the best

I have been thinking about WLS for a while now and finally decided to go for it. I am going with Dr. Giles (he did my moms 6 years ago she did great) I have gone to the seminar two weeks ago and have all of my pre op appointments set. My last one will be 8/19 (my birthday ) I hope all goes well. I dont have to do the 6 month diet like i had to do on my other insurance plan so that made me a little happy. Today i went and did all of my blood work which was HARD (12 tubes of blood) and i have never given blood before.
I am really excited i hope all my tests come back good and i will be approved for my surgery from my insurance company fast.

I am just ready for this change!!
Please send any advice you ahve for pre or post op
Thanks

Oh Kathy, I just read this after I posted my note.  I am so sorry.  I have miscarried too and it is so devastating.  Sending hugs and prayers your way.  If you ever need to chat, just let me know.

Hi Everyone! I've been gone for a LONG time, huh? I am almost 2 1/2 years out and have been stable for about a year.  I am SO FAR from where I want to be! I did lose 115 pounds in 10 months.  Then I got pregnant and fell back into my old ways.  I started drinking sweet tea (grew up on it being raised in the south) and now I can't stop! So, I went from 363 pounds to 250 (when I first got pregnant), and am now up to around 275, although I haven't weighed myself lately because I'm a little scared.

I do have a beautiful 10 month old daughter, Rachael, and I'll be posting her pictures soon.  I also have so much more energy than I did 100 pounds ago.  But, I've got to get down to at least 175.  At the very least.  I have lots of gross hangy skin too that only surgery will be able to take care of.

So, I wanted to get back into being a regular OH member again, cut the crap, and work this wonderful tool that I have.  And I KNOW it still works.  My problem is that I drink my calories.  So, welcome to my life, Splenda! Adios Sugar!

It's great to be back and I know that you all will inspire me to jump back on the wagon.

Love to you,

Michelle
