Had VSG in 2009 45# whoopie!! cannot break even the 200 mark need to lose another 100-so frustrated, my doc thinks I need a malabsorbtion component my question is does it work like at first where you can really get off the weight or am I wasting my time and money?

From what I understand two parters lose at a slower pace. That doesnt mean they dont get to goal.

If living a healthy life is a waste of your money then I say dont do it... BUT if you want a healthier life its much worth it!!!

Banded on 7/1/09,cool removed on 11/11... Switched on 2/5/13. Ticker includes 23lbs lost on preop diet...

I converted to the DS after three years with the vsg. I lost 98# with the vsg and just couldn't lose anymore so I converted. I was on plan 90% of the time and closer to 100% on plan the first six months.

I made the mistake of letting carbs into my diet then and it was all over then. It would help us to advise you if you gave us a days menu for you. Are you eating hi protein, low carb? Getting 64+ ounces of sf liquid a day? Did you really take working your sleeve seriously? If not then the DS won't help you either. You have to be really committed to a lifestyle change that encourages weight loss or,yes you might as well save your money.

HollyKim.... Thank you so much for posting this! I have surgery on the 12th to go from the VSG to the DS and I have really been working on retraining my mind about carbs.  Did this drastically change your weightloss??

Not drastic, no, but I am losing well again. I was a slow loser with the VSG too. I have lost about 20# since my dS in March and pre dS I lost 6# in 6 months, so I am pleased. I guess "drastic" is a relative term. Of course, ymmv, but over all I am glad I had the dS. I do know that carbs will stop my weight loss for a few days so I also try to totally avoid carbs.gl on ur conversion!

I do believe it is possible to reach my goal now.

Did you have your sleeve resized at the same time as your DS revision?

I had the VSG in 2010 and lost 80 lbs and started to regain weight at two years - and my diabetes started to come back. I did the second part of the DS in December 2012 and have lost about 30 pounds - my surgeon predicted I would only lose 20. My weight loss is very slooow! But my diabetes is totally resolved! I have another 30-50 pounds to lose and I keep trying but health is my number one priority. I have no regrets.

Since April 29 2013, I have lost no weight with the DS revision. I also have put in no effort so far. I should have revised my sleeve to make it tight and small again.

Just curious what you mean about putting in "no effort".  I had my sleeve done in dec 2011 and lost 50 pounds but was starting to regain.  I had the DS revision in May 2013 and have lost 20 pounds but now I seem to hover at 135-136 for last 8 weeks.

First goal 120.0: 12/7/13  Final goal 115.0 (114.6):  2/6/14

 5'3  SW: 199 (12/11/11)  Current: 114.8 pounds  18% body fat   BMI: 20.3
