Topic: RE: Difficulty maintaining weight after surgery ? need advice from the community

Hi everyone,

I had weight loss surgery about 2 years ago, and lost a significant amount of weight. But in the last 6 months, I have had difficulty maintaining the weight - it has been creeping up even though I have maintained a relatively stable diet and exercise routine.

My question is:

Has anyone else experienced a similar situation after weight loss surgery? How did they stabilize their weight?

Are there any diets, exercise routines, or management strategies that have been proven to be effective during the "plateau" phase - when weight loss is harder?

Does anyone know of a doctor, nutritionist, or support program on ObesityHelp that would be a good fit to share their experiences with?

I would love to hear some practical advice from the community - even if it is just a small habit that can help me maintain my results after surgery. Thanks so much!

Have you ever been screened or tested for SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth)? I think it could be a less well-known underlying cause, and I'm wondering if I should proactively ask my doctor for this test if I have a similar condition.

To regain some sense of control, I deactivated my account and created a new one. I'm still hoping that once the account is fully deactivated, it will eventually stop showing up in Google search results. It's frustrating that something as simple as trusting a privacy setting can result in such a big invasion of personal space. I truly hope the platform addresses this kind of issue better in the future.

As for my DS journey, I started at 320 lbs. In the first year, my monthly weight loss varied a lot, but here's a rough breakdown:

  • Month 1-3: Around 20-25 lbs per month (the rapid drop stage!)

  • Month 4-6: Slowed to 10-15 lbs per month Geometry Dash

  • Month 7-12: More like 5-10 lbs a month as my body adjusted

By the end of my first year, I had lost about 160 lbs total. It wasn't linear--there were stalls and fluctuations--but it was steady progress. And even though we all lose at different rates, it's totally okay to imagine your future and set goals. Dreaming is part of the process and keeps us going when things feel slow.

His advice is invaluable for anyone considering or living with DS: the surgery itself is just the beginning. The commitment to vitamins, supplements, and regular health monitoring is crucial, as he learned through personal experience. It's also a great reminder that support systems whether from doctors, friends, or online communities play a huge role in long-term success. Stickman Hook

With the DS, you'll need to take vitamins and supplements for the rest of your life to ensure you get enough nutrients, as the procedure reduces nutrient absorption. Discuss a solid plan with your healthcare provider and a nutritionist to stay on top of this. Geometry Dash Lite

I recommend "Effects of Semaglutide on Weight Loss and Health in Patients with Bariatric Surgery" published in Obesity Surgery. This paper reviews how Wegovy can impact weight management in individuals who have undergone bariatric surgery, including those with a duodenal switch (DS). Retro Bowl College

Instead of eating three large meals, you should try eating smaller portions throughout the day to reduce the burden on your digestive system.

You can aim to consume more calories than you're currently burning which will provide your body with the energy it needs to build new muscle tissue. pokedoku
