The grapevine is very positive. Doesn't he practice with Dr. Michael Williams?
Your experience should be great. Please keep us posted on your progress.
Topic: RE: Macik - Leak Rate
Hey Cindy,
I met over 20 Macik patients on OH and sleevetalk.com. I even met a three year sleeve patient of Macik's at a support group. Every single person has great things to say about Dr. Macik. I feel he is one of the best for sleeve surgery in Atlanta. You can call to find out the leak rate but I would not change my plans on hearsay. It does not make sense to switch from a very experienced vsg surgeon to a surgeon without much experience especially due to gossip. You made the right choice.

Thanks ladies for your responses..and Lynette I am glad you are doing well!! I forgot to call the office today...so you can see how concerned I was about the comment made about Dr. Macik. As I posted on the vsg board I have never heard a bad thing about him in the year I have been trying to get this surgery...and ppl are generally more likely to chime in on their personal bad experiences with service than with good. So I will still ask but just because so I can clear up peoples misconceptions about him.
Thanks again! Can't wait for my date... T-8 days!!!

I am not sure of the leak rate, but I do feel as though I couldnt have been in better hands. Even while waiting for surgery nurses and other doctors were commenting on his great skills. If you do everything he ask from preop to post op, I think you will be fine. I did everything he asked and was able to go home in 1 day. I am still experiencing very little pain and am up and moving around every hour.
Wishing you great surgery and speedy recovery.

Topic: RE: Dr Williams
Lori,
From everything that I know, Dr. Williams has an excellent reputation. I general I am not a fan of the Emory sytem. However, John's Creek and Emory Midtown (formerly Crawford Long) are exceptions.
As far as what you need, I suggest you look at the food/drink list from the nutritionist. That should give you some ideas. I would also suggest getting some drink samples. I think you should have your vitamins on hand so you can begin taking them per the surgeon's instructions.
Any other questions, just ask away!

On second thought, maybe it is 1%.
Either way, I would not be concerned. Leaks do happen and your surgeon has an excellent reputation. I believe you will be in good hands.

I have not heard that but see no way that could be a correct figure. Perhaps the person meant .1% rather tan 10%. Please let us know what you find out.
Topic: RE: Relocating in 3 months to the Atlanta area....a little frightened....
Christi,
Many people have posted on this board in the past about the fact that most doctors here refuse to accept patients that have been operated on by someone else. It seems to be an ongoing issue. The fact that you are so early out suggests that you will need a surgeon for follow up for the time being rather than being followed by a PCP.
You can certainly follow up on the suggestions made by the others. I would also do the following:
1) Ask your current surgeon if he/she can assist you in finding a surgeon here who can help you. Your dr. may know someone here or have other avenues for referral.
2) The one doctor that I know of that accepts patients from other surgeons is Scott Steinberg, M.D. He practices out of DeKalb Medical Center in Decatur.....not too far from Norcross. His number is 404-501--7903.
Best to you in your job search, relocation and weight loss journey. The best thing about your job search is that you are an RN. Healthcare seems to be the only field where people are not having difficulty finding employment, at least in this area.
