Topic: RE: So Happy
Today is Sunday Feb. 6, 2011, .1:00 pm I am down to 236.5 down 12.5 from 249 as of Jan 15, 2011. So excited. out of the 40's.
This morning I had oatmeal with 1/2 tsp. of butter. Coffee (lots) with hazelnut creamer sprinkled with cinnamon. I have prob. 16 oz. of water with peach tea flavoring so far. At 2:00 i will have a Jillian Whey Choc. Protein shake with 1 cup of ice, 1/2 banana, 2 tbsp. of p.nut butter, 1 scoop of protein powder, 1/2 cup 1% milk and 1 cup of water. Put into my bullet blender and have a great protein shake.
It is now 4:30 and I just had a big bowl of Healthy Choice Chicken Noodle. Lower Sodium (390 g).
I am staying away from high sodium stuff it set me back a week ago today by 4 lbs. and it took me all week to get those 4 lbs off again. No more.
around 7 tonight i will have a salad with johsonville salami snack bites (prob 4 or 5) slices up in the salad. i put lettuce, little onions, banana peppers, a few olives, cucumber, a few baby tomato's. dressing is homemade by my wonderful husband. Not sure but low fat, low cal. low carb. very little sodium.

Topic: Finally!! Approval and a Date!!
I am soooo excited. After what seems like a lifetime (almost a year) of waiting, I finally have gotten everything straighted out so I can have my insurance pay for the surgery I want. I had Anthem BCBS and filed several appeals but wound up having to switch Aetna so I can get my insurance to pay for my VSG.
I switched to Aetna during open enrollment at my job knowing it wouldn't be effective until Jan 1st. So I decided in the meantime to fulfill my 3 month supervised weight loss while I still had Anthem. I switched on 1/1/11 and by the mid-end of January all my paperwork was submitted. I was approved within a couple of weeks and I have my date and did all my pre-op clearances!!
It was a long journey, but I am soo happy to finally have a date to look forward to.

Topic: RE: Marietta GA Support Groups and Possible Creation of one!
I live in Marietta and I am having my VSG next month. I go to Dr Macik's Support Groups they are the 2nd Thursday of every month near Northside hospital. I haven't really gone to any others in the area.
Anyway, I would also be ok with another group that met on weekends. But I must admit I just haven't really done a lot of investigation. I do think Dr. Dennis Smith has on on Saturdays, but I have never been to it.

Topic: So Happy

Started out at 304 June 5, 2007. Got down to 217 April 2010. Was overfilled got sick had 4 cc taken out. Gained back up to 249 as of Jan. 14, 2011. Started over Jan 15, 2011. Today 237 and am so excited. That is 12lbs gone since Jan. 15, 2011. I have decided that I will go get 1 cc (I had 4 taken out last April). I will go next Friday. I feel like the one will help me. I know I do not ever want to be sick like I was last year. I was desperate going into my 3 rd year anniv. I paid for that. No more speedy go fast marathon. I am choosing to go steady. I have also learned to stay away from high sodium stuff. Weight gain galore. Bought the biggest loser juliann protein choc. powder, had it last night. Very good. I did 1 cup ice, 1 scoop protein powder, 1 tbsp p.nut butter, 1/2 cup 1% milk and 1/2 cup water. I am proud of my self.

My surgery was easy breezy (textbook), but I'm glad my surgeon didn't throw me to the wolves the next day. I was in the hospital for 5 days, and it wasn't until the 4th day that could drink enough fluids to be released.

Topic: RE: pre op?
Hey Queen,
I am not sure about Dr. Williams, but I can tell you what I did in my pre-op. It's been a while, so I may leave something out...
1st I did all my pre-op paperwork for hospital admission.
I did blood work I think???
Dr. Houston went over the procedure and made sure I knew what he was doing to me..
I did a pre-op nutrition class and they went over exactly what to eat and drink, comlpications to look for, etc.
I also took it upon myself to visit the bariatric ward at Centennial. I met with as few of the nurses and ckeckewd out the rooms to see where I would be waking up. That was one of the best things I did for myself pre-op.
The pre-op appt is pretty much the last hurdle. I remember crying in the car when I drove up to the office thinking "this really is happening" WOW.
You should take your support person who willbe caring for you at home. When you are doped up with anesthesia you won't remember or care about what was taught in the pre-op class :-)
Take a list of questions you want answered. You willbe nervous and will likely forget to ask some stuff.
Glad to see you've made it to the finish line!
I would love you to come to my support group at Henry Medical 2nd Saturday of each month. I se you are close by in Hampton.

Guess thats the difference between DS and rny lol. I still felt like I was dying at 2 months!!! At 3 days I barely wanted to get out of bed.
It may be worth it in the long run, but a DS will kick your butt as a newbie post-op.
