Topic: BC/BS of IA
Greetings from Georgia!

My husband works for a company based out of IA (Rockwell Collins) and I'm going through the motions of having WLS through his insurance (BC/BS PPO)

I was sharing with him today about the process of thing with the insurance company and theprocess others have gone thru with BCBS.  He informed me tonite that ours is thru IA andn ot GA.

As it's super late, I just thought I would pop into ya'll's neck of the woods on this website and see if anyone had dealt or is dealing with BCBS in IA?  How did it go?  I can make calls tomorrow hopefully if I dont get any responses but my day is so full tomorrow I was hoping to come home to some friendly answers :)

Thx for listening...

Take care,
Your peachy friend,
Pam

Yes - I have BC BS Alliance Select.   Every employer plan within the is slightly different - but mine went smoothly and I was approved the first time.      You can find their requirements on their website, or call the customer service number on your card.

I wouldn't worry about calling them... I called to verbally get the requirements, then regularly to see if they had gotten the infomation - and then regularly to see if it had been processed yet.

OK.  Thanks GmaT.  Appreciate it.  I think I'm nervous about it because I have my first consult on the 14th, and this is the first time I've gone for something I chose to look into instead of what the doctor ordered.

I just had my lap band yesterday,  prior to that I had also had the liquid diet.  I found that the unjury was good.  If you drink it three times daily with 8ounces of skim milk you will have at least 60 grams of protien.  I personally like the chocolate or vanilla.  I have tried the citrus mixed in water with crystal light lemonade - was okay.

Good luck to you on the 5th!

aSunset,

I have Wellmark but it's the Blue Access plan.  My paperwork was sent in on 7/18 and I called on 7/28 to see if they had received everything and needed anything else.  Well guess what, I was approved already!

I don't think you'll jinx anything by calling them.  If there is a hold up they may be able to tell you why and then you can work on providing whatever info they need.

Good luck to you, I'll know you'll hear soon!

Lisa,

The answers to these questions are different for every surgeon and every Bariatric Program.  These are questions your doctor can answer. :)
