Hi Guys. FIrst time posting since m y surgery. I don't want to scare any one, but, that's one hell of a beating your body takes. surgery went well, felt okay for about 7 days then the vomitting started. All day and night for 3 days straight. went back to the hsopital, was scoped, said nothing was wrong. nausea still never stopped. Surgeon prescribed an anti nausea med, works wonders but makes you weak as heck, especially if you've been vomitting for three days straight. ive lost about 35 pounds since my surgery but don't even care enough to check every day right now because i feel so damn miserable. i am not asking myself why i did this, i am asking when it will stop. i cant do any thing without vomitting up froth now. i don't feel normal whatsoever. i want to,, honestly, go back to the hsopital and be taken care of until i feel better. I wish i had tons of money so i could afford that. It would be gret to have constant care like that. its been a very difficult last week for me. I am not heading back to wor****il next week sometime, if the surgeon even releases me then. Which was definitely not planned for. My best advice: make sure you know you can be really super ill for weeks on end without any true relief because its just a result of the surgery. expect it, and it wont be so hard to deal with. god bless all of you, hopefully next time i update will be only better. take care!

Hi Meghan! Sorry to hear this. Hopefully you get better soon and everything goes well. Well I had my consultation with Dr. Cahill on May 8th. And right now all of my paper work was faxed to my ins. I hope I get approved, but now that you are going through this I am kind of having second thoughts. How is your experience with Dr. Cahill and his staff? And do you personally know of someone that had wls with Dr Cahill? I went to the seminars they have every month and I saw people that were very happy with their results. What type of sugery did you have? I'm sorry Meghan, but I have all these questions that I don't know what to do. Thanks. Maria M.

Hi Maria, thanks for responding. I love Dr. Cahill and his wonderful staff, I've paged Cahill on numerous times on sundays, and hes always gotten immediately back to me and taken wonderful care of me. They are great, the complications are just from the surgery alone. I don't want to scare you off, but, I do believe in being honest. I am thrilled with the results (minus the vomitting, and nausea, and frothing), I've lost nearly 35 pounds in two weeks. I had to get scoped, and Dr. Cahill made it a priority for me to be seen immediately. TOny's been wonderful and reassuring. I want you to know its not their staff, its just the surgery. Tony says this whole frothing thing is actually good because in the long run it means my weight will stay off since I will have a non pliable pouch. Its hard to see the positive, but that is what they are trying to do for me. They are great, and so is LCMH. In fact, when I got sick again, that is where I wanted to be back in the hospital. They're a wonderful and caring group-all of them!

Hi Meghan, First of all, I'm really sorry you're having such a hard time.. I know it's difficult and I can't tell you when it will get better, but you have to believe that it will (and I think you do.). Second, maybe this is something you should bring up to your surgeon. After bypass, my surgeon requires all his patients to be on reflux medication.. he says that in his experience (he basically "grew up" with his father being a pioneer in the WLS field and now he goes around teaching other doctors how to perform these surgeries and what to watch for in aftercare), most patients end up having some sort of gastric distress -- whether it's reflux or gastritis or even ulcers.. and that this extreme surgery can cause that to inflame. I was on one of the popular ones -- not Prilosec, which is OTC now, but the one that came after it.. is it Nexium? I can't recall, now.. but I had to take it for three months -- open up that capsule and down those little beads with a swallow of water. I hated it when they got between my teeth and cheeks.. YUK!! but.. having had gastritis and being treated for ulcers in my teens, I knew it would help. I'm 18 months out now and my life has changed so dramatically.. Yesterday I ran my first 5K -- okay.. ran some, power walked most.. but I DID IT.. and two years ago I couldn't have ever dreamed of it. There were some stumbling blocks along the way. I was real sensitive to foods early out.. one day I could eat one meat and be fine.. two days later, I'd throw it up violently.. some days the smell of food made me nauseous. I can't tell you when that all ended.. but it did. I seem to be fine with just about anything now. Keep your chin up and don't be afraid to do your own research and bring your questions to your surgeon. You are your own and only best advocate. You know your body best and you have to be proactive in your care. Keep your chin up, hon! Stef
