IL medicaid questions
I've recently applied for help from Medicaid for my health issues. They say I won't be approved because I'm not "disabled" according to there standards. I noticed people had their surgeries covered by Medicaid and was wondering if they already had the coverage or recieved it just for surgery. I'm 150 lbs overweight and have high blood pressure among other health problems. If I see a surgeon for a consultation does he have the ability to deem me "disabled" due to my weight ? Will Medicaid help me then?
unfortunatly I went through the same thing awhile back. They told me that I either had to be disabled or have kids. I was so frustrated that I told the woman I'd call back when I was pregnant with kids I can't afford. Public aids terms of being disabled means that u can't work due to whatever for a minimum of one year. Lucky for me when I got married I adopted his son whom I have raised anyway and now I'm covered. But before that I was looking for a job based on insurance or really great pay so I could save. Best of luck to you!!!!

thank you for replying. I was sent to SS and I have an interview this month. Nobody seems to think obesity and the health problems that go with it are disableing. I've always been heavy, but with a ton of stress this past year(lost my job, my best friend passed, my son in Iraq, etc) I've put 50lbs more on and am TOTALLY miserable.
