I'm Coming To Chicago, What Shouldn't I Miss?

Lee is taking me on my first trip to Chicago from August 17th through August 25th. Lee is from there and can't wait to show me his stomping grounds. Is there anything that I should just go out of my way and not miss? Lee is ranting and raving about "white castles" and says I must try and least one slice of Chicago pizza cuz he says its so different than California pizza.....to me....pizza is pizza I do want to see the Sears Tower and so far thats the only thing on our agenda. I really wanna go sit in on the Oprah show if she's taping or the Jerry Springer show. Wouldnt that be fun? Thanks Nadine

Navy pier is a great place to start! How about a boat cruise on the lake? There are several museums too. The aquatic center is nice too. Have fun with the "White Castles"! Make sure to take the tums with you!!!! LOL. Naw really they aren't too bad, just give me problems since surgery. Have a great time! I will be there right after you for my check up with the surgeon. Wow I got a lot of ideas....from the main board too. Navy Pier has been mentioned twice. I love the water. I hope its not hot and humid there....I just can't stand the heat. Thanks a bunch Nadine

The middle of August is what is called the Dog Days of Summer around here. It can be really nasty then too.

good luck with tickets to Oprah and with Jerry, if you are not from the area they require you make your request in writting and it must be six weeks in advance. That is awesome that you are going to Chicago for the first time... I have been there several times but have never "SEEN" anything until my last drs visit in may i believe....and we visited the "HARD ROCK CAFE" that was was pretty neat and the resturant next door is neat aslo...have fun...OH yes and the Navy Pier is also a great place to see...
