Hello all! I am finding this site very helpful so far. I am currently a size 16 on a good day but a size 18 most days and weigh around 200 pounds and am 5'6". I have a very flabby stomach and awful stretch marks. I am 35 and have 3 teenagers. I had my first child when I was 17. I have tried every diet pill out there I think. I have not been a faithful exerciser however I am very active. I just started researching my options. I have not talked with a doctor. Any suggestions from those of you that have been here already? I am not small boned and would ultimately like to be a size 8-10 and around 140 pounds. And want a flatter/tighter stomach and get rid of those stretch marks. Please any insight would be helpful. Patti

Just to help you out a bit... I don't see a doctor doing the gastric bypass on you..for one your BMI does NOT exceed 40 and unless you have MAJOR comorbidities insurers usually will not cover the cost of the surgery...It sounds to me like what you're needing is a better exercise regimen and a consult with a plastic surgeon and a dietician...hope it helps... Unfortunately, your BMI probably would not qualify you for WLS. You may qualify for the Lapband, but that is iffy. There are non surgical obesity doctors that may be able to help you. Here is a link that could maybe point you in that direction. http://www.wishcenter.org/new/referral.asp Many hospitals will have an HMR Weight Management Program that will work with you to shed excess pounds. Good luck and keep us posted as to your progress. I admire anyone that can loose the excess weight the natural way, it is so much better for one's body to not have any surgery on it at all. Chris

I have to agree with the ladies here although you are considered(obese) by you bmi most doctors wont do surgery. Your bmi fals in the 32 and I think even for lapband it has to be 35 with co morbs like sleep apnea diabetis and things of that sort. I would call your dr and talk to him he may suggest going to the diatician. As for the flabby stomach the surgery will only most likely make it worse. What about a tummy tuck with lipo? Or maybe lipo dissolve? I am sorry I am not much help but good luck to you on your journey to greater health!!!!
