Congratulations on your upcoming surgery date. Hold on because you are going to have the ride of your life. I am not familiar with where Lakemoor is at. Can you fill me in? I am in suburban Chgo, 5 miles west of O'Hare. I am married to Dave who also had open RNY 3 years ago, so we are our own support group. We do not have any children, our choice and have been married for 32 years. We are down to one cat from 3, love to travel and spend long weekends in the WI Dells several times a year. I was "born, raised and stayed" in the town we live in and I also work for the village.
Words of wisdom - get your protein in, exercise and drink your water. Start now to practice to eat small bites and chew really well. Try using saucers for your food and small eating utensils. We use children's eating utensils. You can only get so much food on a small fork or spoon so you are forced to eat smaller quantities. Start now eating slowly and also start now to not drink with your meals. There are three major components to this surgery and they are: the surgery itself, learning to eat properly for the rest of your life and exercise. They all go together, your success depends on all three. These are things that you are going to be doing for the rest of your life. I never thought that I would learn to love exercise, but now I live to exercise. I love it. Just also remember that your doctor is doing surgery on your stomach and not your brain, it is up to you to change your "brain set". You are going to have hard days PO, but pick yourself up, dust yourself off and try again. Just because sometimes you may fall off the wagon with your program does not mean that you failed, there always is the next hour(s) or tomorrow. Learn are really important word that begins with "F" - no no it is not what you are thinking, get your minds out of the gutter. It is FORGIVENESS. Forgive yourself for the mistake and move on. These are my
words of wisdom for you and others that may read this.
