Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass Surgery
Dr. Scott Shikora, Chief of Bariatric Surgery at Tufts-NEMC and Surgical Director of the Medical Center's comprehensive Obesity Consultation Center, along with bariatric surgeons Dr. Michael Tarnoff and Dr. Julie Kim, will perform the surgery. Tufts-NEMC was the first medical center in New England to do the gastric bypass surgery using minimally invasive techniques. The Medical Center's surgeons remain the most experienced in the region, with outcomes more favorable than the national average.
Scott Shikora, MD, FACS, is Chief of Bariatric Surgery at Tufts-New England Medical Center and Surgical Director of the Medical Center's Obesity Consultation Center. He is a Professor of Surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine. Michael Tarnoff, MD, FACS, is a surgeon in Tufts-New England Medical Center's Divisions of Bariatric and General Surgery and an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine. Julie Kim, MD, FACS, is a surgeon in Tufts-NEMC's Divisions of Bariatric and General Surgery and an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine. Together, the bariatric surgeons at Tufts-NEMC have conducted international clinical research on various surgical devices and techniques for achieving weight loss and improving the health of patients who are morbidly obese.

Hey Kath ... yeah, I watched too ... interesting to see what I went through! I really think that education is key. The more you know the better. I actually only found OH.com one week prior to my surgery, and I don't think I slept at ALL, trying to soak in as much as I could.
Glad all went well with Nagle, and please do let me know when you get your date ... if you're ever interested in meeting up for coffee and/or a chat ... let me know. We start up networking (for pre- and post-ops)/support group (post-ops) meetings in January, it would be nice to see you at the networking meeting!
