Thanks again for the info. I read on another site yesterday that Medicaid is no longer going to cover any type of WLS after 11/2006? Does anyone know anything about that??

My first thought on this is : why would they stop paying for this life saving procedure....Don't they realize that many of the obese out there lives on meds all through their lifes and therefore cost more to pay for then an one step precedure. Why not pay for something that is a tool then the dependency of meds many yrs of their lifes? I, for one havent heard anything about them not paying for WLS but, I'm sure if it would come to this , there would be a lot of feedback and questions WHY....

i'm also going through northwestern memorial hospital in chicago, since i wanted to have the tests done in my home town ( rockford illinois ) it has taken longer than expected, i started in arond august, im just getting my last one done but your shouldn't take that long. because of my size it's harder to test me. When i did have tests done through northwestern they were much faster!

I had medicaid and my first consultation was sometime in may and surgery was july 25! It seemed like time was standing still but really it was quick! I had rny not the band so i can't help with requirements. Evanston northwestern (enh) takes medicaid and i chose to do mine at highland park hospital. I was given great care. I couldn't find anyone who would take medicaid for the psych eval but i found a wonderful lady who lowers her rates ($75) for medicaid people and her name is wendy dalberg. She even showed up to a few of the support group meetings. Also enh didn't require the six month diet and i'm so thankful because i didn't want to wait that long! Good luck to you! Casey

I am also on Medicaid and am looking into LapBand. I was wondering if you would mind telling me what your BMI was and if you had any comorbidities. I am just wondering how difficult it is to be approved. Thanks Dawn
