gettin the run a round

my insurance requires a 6 month doctor supervised diet,,,,,,,,i am currently doing that but talking to the people that submit my paper work to the insurance company, they are saying that i also have to consult with a nutritionist also. has anybody for Aetna insurance had to do all this? would you think seeing my doctor once a month is enough?

I do not have Aenta so I can not say what your insurance requires but my insurance required a six month doctor supervised diet with at least one visit a month to the doctor and at least three visits a month to a nutrionist. I was literally at someone once a week. I submitted after six months to the date and was approved. Good luck!!

thank you for the info......i think i got some where today as i switched to a different consultant from the doctors office she was much more helpful plus i found out i could use the nutrionist on the doctors staff!

It does not really matter what WE think! What matters is what your insurance wants. I would call them and get EXACT clarrification on what documents they will need. trust me - you do NOT want to do your 6 month program and not have it be enough to get approved. Good luck!!

Hi there, I had the same problem, I switched insurances, and two weeks after switching insurance companies (and feeling that I was going to never have the surgery) I was called by my surgeon's office with a date. It was unbeleivable. And three weeks after that, I had open RNY. Changed my life. AMAZING~! It is a LONG process (took me two years) so worth it though! GOOD LUCK! Christina
