INSURANCE BLUES

Aaaghh - I was 5 months into getting predetermination and my company switched from horizon bcbs of nj, to horizon bcbs of il. Doesn't sound like much of a change but it wiped out all of my progress to date and I must start all over with the new insurance. I wish everyone else better luck!!!!

that is just NOT RIGHT. Have you actually talked to someone there? Can perhaps your doc/surgeon intervene for you? Have you shown them paperwork? All I can tell you, is that the wait is worth it ... there may be a reason why you're experiencing this setback ... but I know that's not what you want to hear. Hang in there ... Karyn

I have the blues too! called the insurance today and I hit another road block. My deductable started over the first of the year. SO now I'll have to come up with more money out of pocket. I had it all covered with dr boes office. So I really got the shaft on this. My out of pocket is 3000.00 and deductabe is 1500.00, I can not aford any loans so I might as well wait until I can. There goes my slimming 2007! I'm going to go join weigh****chers AGAIN. this makes about the 100th time Ive joined. It will take off a few pounds but not enough. I might need anti depression meds after all this!

You should talk to the hospital where you are going to have the surgery done, many times they will discount significantly the amount you have to pay if you pay it all at one time. Sometimes by as much as 50% or more, so it may be worth the call so you know what you need to save! Just an idea, my hospital does that a lot, but we don't do WLS, but for everything else they discount if you agree to pay as soon as the insurance pays their part.... Just thought I woul share...
