Lap Band-Illinois Medicaid

Hello everyone! I was just wondering if anybody out there has had the Lap Band procedure done with Illinios Medicaid. Just wondered what your BMI was and if there were any comorbidities. Also, did you get approved the first try, or did you have to appeal and if so, how many times. Just kind of wondering what to expect. I guess that is about it for now. Thanks!! Dawn

Hi Dawn, My name is Henrietta and I just talk to a friend of mine here in Peoria who has had the RNY.last year and she used IDPA.I'm going through them also and she states that it took her 3 weeks and she was approved.I don't know what her BMI was but mine is 50 as soon as I hear something about my case I'll let you know.My sergeon sent my paperwork in 1/23/06.My caseworker told me all that really matters is that your 100 lbs overweight and your BMI.I started this whole process 12/18/06 and I'm waiting on my approval now so it has not been that long for me. So I was told to be looking to have my Lap RNY done around March that is just cool by me.Please keep in touch. Henrietta

Hey! Thanks for replying!! What doctor are you going to? I hope you hear something back soon. Waiting can be terrible!! So other than the BMI of 50, do you have any other problems? High blood pressure, depression, joint pain? I am so worried that I won't be approved. Did you have to go through the dietician and psychologist, too? If so, do you do that before they send in your paperwork for approval or after? Okay, so you said your friend had RNY done, how much overweight was she and did she have any other problems?
