NewStart in St. Louis

I know alot of people have had Barnes for their doctors but I am going through NewStart. Has anyone else used them?

hi Christina- I went to NewStart, I researched and decided the Dr Richardson was top notch. (I'm an RN and got the inside scoop) I also have heard good things about the female Dr at Barnes but at the time I had my surgery (I was a BJC employee) there was a 1 yr preop program that I didnt want to wait for. I started the process in Jan and had surg on 3/1. I LOVE Dr. R. He's great & so is Chris the RN coordinator there. Feel free to PM me for any questions. One sure thing...be sure you have someone who can stay w/ you during the time in the hospital. The nursing care was substandard when I was there. Luckily, I had a very attentive husband who knew an employee there when I was having some trouble, his friend took great care of me.

New Start is a great program. I originally started out with Van Wagner. He was really nice and his staff was the greatest. Unfortunatelly, my insurance would not cover the surgery at the time, so I had to find a doctor that would take my secondary insurance. Now that my insurance covers the surgery, if I had to do it all over again, I would have gone to Dr. Wagner. Good luck with your decision. There are many great doctors in our area. Shelley

Who did you go with and where? I am actually using Follwell. I hope he is good. I know he does surgeries with all the other doctors. I am getting nervous.

I ended up going to Dr. Fred Tiesinga in Oak Park, suburb of Chicago. I am now following up with Dr. Halpin at Barnes. I really like her. She is very thorough. When is your surgery? Do you have a date yet? It is normal to be nervous but don't worry you will be in good hands. Shelley

I know where Oak Park is. I used to live in Chicago. I have not gotten a date yet. I am working on getting approval and have just started my venture. I am going through NewStart and they are to review my file tomorrow according to the patient coordinator. Thanks, Chrissie

Hey gal, Dr. Halpin is my doc, isn't she great!! How is the support group thing going?

I have nto found a support group yet to go to. i was told today that my paperwork was sent to the insurance company and should hear something in about 3 weeks. I will keep my fingers crossed but I am anxious.
