No surgery date scheduled!
i was hoping and praying that today when I called my surgeons nurse I would have a surgery date. Well, it didnt turn out that way. I called several times and never got an answer, so I left a msg. I called back about half an hour later because i was getting so impatient as the day was almost over that I couldnt take it anymore. Mary Ann answered the phone and as soon as I told her who I was, she told me that Dr Vitello took my chart away from her today and told her that he would call me himself. Well, this was around 4 pm , and Im sure the office would be closing soon and I waited and prayed , waited and prayed and I still got no phone call. I know I shouldnt be so impatient, he will more than likely call me tomorrow or maybe Monday, but man Ive been waiting so long for this, even one more days HURTS! Keep ya fingers crossed ya'll that sometime tomorrow he will call me. Thanks!
Dr. Vitello is funny, he called me on a Sunday, he takes charts home with him. Have you tried emailing him? He responded to me better in emails than phone calls.
When he did call me, the first date he gave me was a couple of months out, when I told him that timing wouldn't work, and asked for something sooner, he gave me a date 3 weeks out! So keep that in mind. He is a great guy, and I was very pleased with my surgery. did you get to ask him about having it done lap?

Hey Sandy, No I havent emailed him but I sure will give that a try as soon as I send this post, if I can find his email address, I have it written here somewhere!
I dont know when the date will be but MaryAnn said he was scheduling in the middle of March 2 weeks ago, so Im kinda thinking the end of March probably, I dont know if I could handle the pressure of him calling today and sayin ok be here in 3 weeks! LOL ..
Im glad u are happy with ya surgery, thats very encouraging and I havent had a chance to talk to him about the lap but I did mention it to Mary Ann and she said yes he does do that and she would ask him for me, but when I talked to her yesterday that wasnt mentioned she just said he took my chart away from her and said he would call me himself. I seriously doubt Ill be candidate to have that done though if you were only 95 lbs overweight cuz Im much more than that, but Im being hopeful.
I will pray he calls you today. I work with 2 women who had open RNY with Dr Vitello, but I know several freinds who had significantly more weight to lose than I did who had lap with other docs, so don't give up on the idea. Dr. Ayloo assisted him,, so I would definately ask him about it. He is very down to earth and understanding.
Wheere do you live if you are having surgery at UIC? I am in Mokena.
