So I sent everything in to my insurance to get approval. My insurance is Blue Cross Blue Shield. yesterday i get a letter saying that they do not have enough info and need more. They want more documented 5 yr history of being obese. I sent them that. I have not really had a doctor in last 5 yrs because I was in school!! I sent them my weights from school health!! So in midst of me freaking out I called my surgeons office to ask what to do. Dr Rosen is going to set up a peer to peer review with BCBS because he feels that I have submitted everything that they asked for. So that will take 7-10 days!! Just frustrating!!!

Yep - Not sure how much I can help ya, but feel free to read my profile regarding my BCBS experience. All I can say is - find a GOOD customer service rep and stick with them. Call everyday if you have to - but always be nice! If you look on my profile - I have EXACTLY what BCBS is looking for with the supervised diet. I put an entire binder together with each section and requirement and then all my back up paperwork. i would be happy to get together and show it to you sometime, or help you in any way I can!

Hi Amanda, I, too, had a horrible experience with Blue Cross Blue Shield. I submitted everything that they requested and I still received a denial letter. Dr. Frantzides office helped me through the whole process. Cynthia was on the phone with Blue Cross every day making sure they received everything, but I had to do my part, too. In the end, I had to comply with the 6 months of supervised diet history and have my pcp document it just as Blue Cross wanted and then I was approved. My best advice to you in dealing with the devil (Blue Cross) is to get them to be as specific as possible up front about what they really want from you and then just do it. Dr. Frantzides office helped me that way and now I am 6 months post op and happier than I have been in a long time. Good luck and don't let Blue Cross get to you! Maria

Thanks for the support. I have been doing the 6 month supervised diet with my doctor. But yes it appears that is not enough for BCBS!!

Hey Amanda - Hang in there. These insurance companies want you to give up so don't! Dr. Rosen is my surgeon too. You are in great hands w/ him and his Team. They will help you thru this bump the road. Congratulations on taking the first steps to a healthier you. If you need to talk, send me a pm. Are you going to the support group meeting tomorrow night? It's from 7 - 8:30. Maybe I'll see you there. Christina
