I am meeting with Dr. Guske's office on March 16th. Is thewre anything that I should take with me to that consultation? I already sent the packet back that they hand out at the seminar. Thanks, Lisa

I don't know what was in your packet you mailed in, it seems every info session is different. When I went to my initial consultation, I took with me a handwritten list of all the weight loss attempts I had made. A list of approximately what my weight was at age 20-25-30-35-40-45 to show the progression of weight gain. I listed my co morbidities that where known, and what I suspected. I took copies of my last lab work I had done, and my last stress test results (which I have every year due to diabetes). A list of my meds and my blood sugar and insulin records. I also took a statement of how long I had been considering WLS, and the research I had done. I included in that my reason for wanting the surgery done, which was to get my diabetes under control and become healthy so I can see my grandaughter grow up. The only thing I did not take which I had to get faxed to him was a statement from my primary care Dr that he had followed me for x number of years in my weight loss attempts. He just hand wrote it on a letterhead from his office. My surgeon submitted this, and insurance approval came 6 days after my appointment! I had the surgery 3 weeks after that, didn't even have time to think. You may already have had a lot of this in your packet, but anything that wasn't gather from your doctor and take with you. The more documentation you have, the better your case. Because my doctor had followed me, my surgeon did not make me go through the 6 month supervised diet. Good luck with everything!!! Let us know how you do... Sandy

Make a list of all the questions you have, he will take the time to answer them....you will Love, Love Dr. Guske by the way, he is a real sweetheart as well as an awesome surgeon. He will go over your background and let you know whether he thinks you are a good candidate for the surgery. He will also take you through the entire procedure and let you know what to expect post-op. Best of luck and if I can answer any questions for you let me know Regards and hugs, Ronna

Hi Lisa. I had Dr. Guske too. He reviews your documentation very thoroughly and takes the time to explain both procedures to you and takes time to answer any of your questions. Of course, he's so cute to look at - that makes it so much the better. You really don't need to take anything else with you as you had to fill out the extensive questionnaire that has your diet and medical history. Probably you need to bring your insurance card with you and any questions you may have. Good luck and keep us posted! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Lucy
