Decided to.....

After several months of meetings and research and consultations I've decided to opt for the RNY. Lap band just does'nt sound right for me and my logistics. I'm 6' 3'' 425lbs.+. From what I've heard and been told RNY is the best choice for my situation and the amount needed to lose. The hospital I'm going to only does the open RNY(scarey) I've never had any type of sugery before. My Doc says that because of where I'm carrying my wheight(Gut) I pobably would'nt qualify for laproscopic. If anyone here has had their procedure done at the Trinity Bariatric Clinic in Moline Illinois I'd love to hear about their experiences and opinions about the place. Nurses and Docs seem very good and approachable ond open. The one thing that struck me was the fact that this is not about the surgery as much as it is about a total lifestyle change. I know some found that obvious but I never really looked at in that light. I'm still coming to terms with the loss of my beloved coffee.....lol. Twenty five years of coffee and hopefully in a few months it will be cold turkey. But, I'm looking forward to it. To all those ready to have their surgeries I pray that everything goes well and your road to health is a smooth one.And for those that have already had it, I wish you well and hope for you all to arrive at your place in the sun soon. Thanks to all......Kyle PS to Audrey... Waukegan is 3 hours from me...K

Hi just a note If you are looking for laparoscopic rny by one of the worlds best you should really look in to my surgeon he is in Skokie IL and he invented 2 of the tools for lap. He just did a guy who carried all his weight in his chest that was bmi 66 i think and over 500 lbs and he did it lap. He is excellent and he can tell you at the consultation just by looking if if can be done. He has only had to convert to open on 2 patients. It is less invasive lap then open. Also then everyone in the room can see what he is doing because of the monitors. Just wanted to let you know I was going to go to siu and they only did open and I was freaking out!

Your surgery is 2 days before mine with Dr. F. We could meet in the hospital!! You'll probably be going home the day I get there.
