I'm Home!

Good morning everyone. I had my plastic surgery on Monday and stayed overnight and came home on Tuesday afternoon. I had a brachioplasty, breast lift with augmentation and a revision of my LBL just above the pubis. I am very pleased with my results. Dr. Madry is a very skilled plastic surgeon. I think the doc had me stay overnight because of the pain I had. I was crying in the recovery room. It took some time for my pain to get under control. My stay was awful as I couldn't get any sleep because of my roommate. She was snoring loudly and even with earplugs and having the TV on the highest volume, her snoring came through. I asked for a room transfer. Eventually at 3 a.m. I got transferred to another room and got some rest, although I didn't sleep. I had threatened that if they didn't move me, I was going home. That's how bad it was. I don't think they wanted to call the doc at 2 in the morning. He would have raised he@@! I had a hard time sleeping last night because of the positioning. I usually sleep on my side but couldn't because of the surgery. I had to sleep on my back with lots of pillows around me. My poor aching tailbone! I want to thank Willow for her support and taking care of me during this time. She was there for me while I was waiting to go to surgery, all the way through seeing me in my room. She spent all day with me and my friend who was waiting in the surgery waiting area. I couldn't have asked for a better friend and supporter. Willow also took me home yesterday and stayed with me for a while to make sure I was settled in and OK. She made sure that I had some protein before she left. It was so relaxing at home with the sun shining in the window. The best part it was so quiet and peaceful. I want to also thank Jeanette R. who came to see me after surgery. She stayed for some time but had to go before I got out of the recovery room. Thanks Jeanette. I am thankful for your friendship and support. I knew you stayed as long as you could. I was running late because of the doc. The OR was ready for me on time! Today I am stronger and not so tired as I was yesterday. I was so sleepy yesterday and that is why I didn't post until this morning. I am pleased with my initial results. However, the swelling begins! I hate this part of the post-op phase. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts, prayers and well wishes! We are indeed one big happy family here. Hugs, Lucy

Thanks Karyn. I found a way to keep my arms wrapped and secured. I bought a pair of TED compression thigh high stockings and cut off the foot portion and top thigh portion and slid them up my arms. I did put gauze wrap over my arms to prevent staining of the sleeves. It's working out very well. I am so swollen everywhere but my left hand is the worst. I'm trying to keep up my arms as much as possible. This round will be it for a while. I have my face to do but will wait for the winter to do it. I don't know about being a guru but I do have some experience with plastics. See you soon! Lucy

Hi Christina. Yes, I must come here and post. I need support and reading the posts and responding to them helps me so much. I'm trying not to take too much pain medication. I have been taking it today as my drain in my pubic area is bothering me something fierce. I think it wants to come out! My drainage is decreasing a lot every day, so I think it will be removed on Monday. YAY! Then I can shower. The swelling is the only thing that is really bothersome. I know in my mind that this is normal. Seeing and accepting it is another story. It will get better with time. I am going back to work on Monday. I'm only doing that because I am just about out of vacation time. I will be cutting back on my hours though, working only a 6 hour day this week. I might give you a call this evening. Thanks for the offer and your support! Hugs, Lucy
