Supervised Diet
Hello all... I know that I have to have a supervised 6 month diet. Which I started in February. But I met with my surgeon's "insurance girl" she made it seem like if I didn't have my "diet" followed by a nutritionist that they is no way that insurance is going to cover. She said all this without out looking into my insurance plan. (Which they had my insurance info for well over a month... another story thou) I checked my insurance policy guide lines...Vital signs, including weight
Current dietary program
Physical activity (i.e., exercise program)
Behavioral interventions to reinforce healthy eating and exercise habits
Consideration of pharmacotherapy with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-
approved weight-loss drugs, if appropriate
I would think my medical doctor could talk with me about Behavioral interventions, right? Oh well... I guess I am just curious how other peoples supervised diets went

I am actually on the last month of my diet. March 27 is my last appointment!! YEAH!! Nancy is right it goes by very fast. I was told that a doctor supervised diet is good enough. As long as they specify what type of diet and a exercise regime (I think I spelled that wrong). I do however need to meet with a dietician once before the surgery and following the surgery. I have my first appointment with my surgeon on March 23. I am planning on surgery for the week of June 25. Plently of time to deal with insurance probs. I will say that the wonderful woman that works for the surgeon told me that the ins denies the first time all the time. But she said that if I have all the proper paperwork everything will be fine. I have already met with the psychologist, so I am ahead of the game. I hope everything goes well for you. STAY POSITIVE!!! It definitely works!
