I'm having some second thoughts about my surgery due to the factor that I have so far to go, and follow up so many hurdles. I have to go 6.5 hour away to see a surgeon that is covered on my insurance. Finding a psyc Dr for eval close so that I don't have to miss 2 days of work, also the liquid diet will I be able to maintain? I have so many questions and concerned. I think I really just scared. I too have a long drive I live 10 min from st louis and my doctor is in skokie which is up past Chicago. But like Sandra said we are worth it! I also wanted to say that each dr is different about the liquid diet mine is 3 days I start on Friday then Sunday bowel prep and Monday surgery. there is a great psy doctor at siu comp clinic named sandy viscari and I would call her and see if she can do it. she is in Springfield is that close to you? anything is possible if you want it bad enough!!!! good luck and keep us posted. Thanks for your advice I'm about 1 hour from st. louis and I have to go to Waukegan I go and see the surgeon on the 13th of April. Springfield,Il ? SIU carbondale? that would be closer. Springfield Il is 2 hours away but it would give me a good reason to see my grandchildren, and my sister. So how did you do after the surgury? transportation? Family works I guess if there is a will there is a way. Also do you go back for follow- up care? I would really like to follow- up with the surgeon that does the surgery. I'm glad I have you to talk to I almost wanted to back out but I do need this for me. I realize that I have did for others so long until I've forgotten about me. The only way I can help anyone else I must take care of myself. Audrey

The doctors at Barnes-Jewis are doing lapband now, but not sure if they take your insurance.

I highly recommend Dr. Eagon at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St Louis. I live in Belleville, IL. I believe he does do the Lap band surgery also.. I'm not sure what all insurance he takes..but he'd be worth the call!! You're jitters are normal for any major operation. All I can say is... It was worth all my time trouble and money to have this surgery. Good luck on your journey!! Hugs, Anna
