Surgery Tomorrow

I am going in tomorrow to have a hysterectomy. I am very nervous as I have heard that the recovery from this is worse than the recovery from my open RNY. Does anyone know that to be true? I will be away for a while during my recovery. Everyone have a great week!

Hi Nancy. I had an abdominal hysterectomy years ago. I didn't think it was too bad in terms of recovery. I had the lap RNY so I can't compare them. I will say a prayer that all goes well and for a speedy recovery! Lucy

Sorry, haven't got a clue on the comparison for you. I do remember my open RNY being a lot easier than I thought it would be. It was even far easier than my open gall bladder in '91. I think for me it was because the GB incision was horizontal and the RNY was vertical. Cut through the muscle different. Chris
