Hi Everyone, I thought I would make some suggestions for exercises that will help us get ready for SUMMER!!!! I know they are calling for snow this weekend for a lot of us, but hey...it will be here before you know it.... Make sure you check with your doctor before doing any exercise. These are just suggestions and hey have fun. If you can only do one then it 's one more than you did yesterday Let's tackle the ABS!!!! Crunches with bent knees and legs up Lay on the floor with your legs up at a 90 degree angle, cross your arms on your chest (or behind your head if your neck bothers you) crunch up and down slowly. Try to do 3 sets of 8-12 if you can. Ab Plank Lay on your tummy, come up on your forearms just under your shoulders and on your toes. Now look in the mirror if you can and make sure your butt is down not up. You want to have your body flat as if you were a table top. Suck in your abs and hold them tight. Hold this position as long as you can. You will be shaking but that is good. Increase your time with every time you do this. Obliques Lay down and put your hands behind your head as if you were going to do a regular crunch situp. Once you come up the middle then turn and take your right elbow to your left knee. Make sure you lift your right shoulder off the mat, keeping your left arm down on the floor. You want to twist gently. Now back to the middle and down and then up and take your left elbow to your right knee. Do 3 sets of 8-12 if you can. Bicyle Put your hands behind your head and lift your head up as if to do a crunch. Lit both legs up off the floor at a 90 degree angle. Now lower your right leg (as low as you can without your lower back coming off the floor) and take your right elbow to your left knee, crunching up to touch. Do the same for the other side. Lower your left leg and take your left elbow to your right knee. Doing these slowly will get you a better ab workout. Do 3 sets of 8-12 if you can. Have fun and YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!! Take care, Kathy 330/124

Kathy, good to see you back, you were missed. I am going to print down what you wrote and glean off what I can do at this point with my gimp knee and take it from there. Chris &

Nobody told me I was cute before, my DH has been told that in the past. I have been told in the past that I used to be a real witch on the 911 radio, hated that job for 14 years. The DH is cute, really has a sweet personality and also sucks up to the ladies, LOL Thank you for telling me that. Actually I was thinking today the my knee is doing good. It really bugged me on the week end. I will see what the ortho doc says tomorrow. I hope I do not need more PT. Thou, I know it would not hurt but help. Just a pain to go to 2 times a week plus the at home exercises. Yes, Dave and I will be at group tomorrow evening, I take it you are going to be there? That would be great to finally meet you. Chris

Hi Kathy. Can't do any exercise yet! I'm only 3 weeks post-op - BL/BA and brachioplasty. I'm dying to get on my gazelle rider. I'll be seeing my ps today and ask him when I can start exercising! Thanks for this post. Good to see you here. Lucy

Hi Lucy, Congratulations on taking that last step on your journey!!!! DON'T do anything unless your surgeon says otherwise. You can make your scars way to big if you start to exercise to early... Hang in there, you will get back to movin soon!!! Take care, Kathy
