Dr. Brian Boe of Barix

Hello...does anyone have any recent information on Dr. Boe? I know he practiced in IL but is now in PA. I have an appointment with him tomorrow and I am just trying to do my homework. Any information you can provide will be appreciated!!! Also, did the Barix Clinic out there close? If so, anyone know why? Thanks, Lisa

Lisa, sorry cannot help you here. I did not realize that he moved to PA, I thought he still was in Rockford, IL. He was VERY well liked by his patients at Barix. Did you try contacting some of the patients via his profile on the PA peer page? That might be the first place to go. Chris ps yes Barix in Belvidere closed about 4 months ago, for the exact reason I am not privy to.

Lisa, Barix closed a couple of weeks after I saw Dr. Boe for my annual check up. There was no indication that anything was wrong, in fact, I found out it was closed on the OH board, and got the letter from the Barix support group after that. I heard rumors that there just wasn't enough surgery being done anymore. BCBS of IL changed their requirements for gastric bypass, and that put a dent in the patients going to Barix. Also, a couple of other hospitals in the area started doing bariatric surgery. While my surgeon was Dr. Vaughn, I saw Dr. Boe a couple of times for follow up care, and I really liked him. His patients raved about him, and he's performed a lot of surgery in the time he's been with Barix. I think you'll be pleased with him. Terry

Hi Lisa, I went to Barix in Oct 2004 and had Dr Boe as my surgeon. I found him very understanding and easy to talk with. I really was disappointed to hear that the clinic in IL was shutting down and talked to my rep in their MI office about the situation. Like Terry indicated, it seems to be a business decision due to the 'lack of patients' and moved him out to the PA clinic. I've recommended the clinic to several people and I would hope that their PA office is run as professionally as the IL was. Good luck! Mike
