Finding a Medicaid Surgeon

Hey All!! I currently have Medicaid and I live in Illinois. I'm having a hell of a time finding a surgeon that accepts public aid for the lapband surgery. Is there anyone out there who can shed some light on this? Thanks a Million Dorey

Dorey, did you go through the list of bariatric surgeons for IL on the "Find a bariatric surgeon" link above? It will take a little bit of a search but if you go to that doctors forum and then click on the insurance link for him or her you will get a list of the different insurance and the comments from the patients. Be sure to click the doctor's link that is titled "surgical center" on the right side of the list, that takes you to that particular doctor's forum then you can find the insurance link on the left side from there. Hope that does not confuse you too much. You can at least get telephone numbers also from the find a bariatric surgeon link also and start making calls. Christine

Well with my surgeon the hospital will take the medicaid but with his fee he requires that you pay out of pocket i'm not sure what you financial situation is but he is reasonable Tema

My surgeon was Dr. Constitine Franztides it took no time i went in i got a date...I went to Evanston NorthWestern Hospital...He fee you would have to discuss with him you can reach and make an appointment at 1 847 676 2200

I'm not Tema but I also had a consultation with Dr. Constantine Frantzides on the first of September 2006 and me being on a medical card he told me what he does since he does NOT accept medicaid that he knocks half of his fee off which would have made my out of pocket expenses 6,500 so that would make his entire fee 13,000... If you're looking strictly for a surgeon that does the LAPBAND then there is a Dr. Shayani in Maywood that accepts Medicaid... If I can be of any further help don't hesitate to mail me and I'll do what I can to help~ Ck~
