Sweetie, it is great that you have a doctor that is concerned about this. It could have been dangerous to go into surgery with your thyroid out of wack. I have been there. Back in Jan of '05 it was found that I had an overactive thyroid and was later diagnosed with Grave's disease. I was just in the early stages of planning my first PS and my surgery was canceled. I was devastated and had to wait for several months until they got the levels just right for me to have surgery. Now, I am not saying that you will have to wait several months like me but they need to get you on meds if necessary and get things squared away so it is safe for you to have surgery. Sweetie it will come but when it is safe for you to have surgery. Christine

Hi Sabrina ... it's definitely not worth taking more risks than you need to having this surgery. I was diagnosed about 10 (maybe more) years ago with hypothyroidism, and its been controlled wonderfully by meds. I had my gastric bypass just about 4 years ago, and my thyroid has maintained steady levels. Don't worry, hopefully its just a minor setback, and you'll be back on the journey sooner than you know ... hypothyroidism can also be a reason for not being able to lose weight, or even weight gain as well. Hang in there ... keep us posted. Karyn
