Anyone with AETNA POS?

Hello everyone, Does anyone else have AETNA POS insurance? If so, how long did it take to get approval? After two weeks of hearing nothing, I contacted AETNA and was told no "event" had been entered for me (nothing was in their system as pending review.) I was also told their review takes 4-6 weeks! UGH! I can't stand this waiting! Anyone else? -Susan

Did they acknowledge that their system had the paperwork from your doctor? Are you sure your surgeon sent the paperwork into Aetna? Those would be the questions that I would be asking on Monday morning. 4-6 weeks seems really long. I had a written acknowledgement back from BCBS IL PPO (back in 2003) within 3 weeks. Chris

Hi - I'm from Indiana and I just got approved a week ago from Aetna POS. First round took a week w/ a denial at first but that was because we didn't send in 5 years of medical records. Took 2 weeks to straighten that out - - so took took 3 weeks in all after I pushed every day for the last week. When they fax paperwork in to them it takes up to 3 days to show in their system due to volumne. If after 2 weeks they don't have it - you should get it resent - - but make sure you have everything they ask for or they'll bounce it back quickly. Lynn

Kat, After nearly 3 weeks of waiting, I finally have a review-in-process. My husband works for BP, and our AETNA insurance is specific to BP. My info was being faxed to the wrong number. Perhaps the same thing is happening with you? Call your AETNA pre-certification number and find out if you have a case number, and if your information is under review. Here's hoping we both get a positive answer. -Susan
