Depression before surgery?
Hello all! I have a question for you. I have finished my 6 month supervised diet and I did really well. Now that my surgery is possibly 2 months away I have begun to experience depression again. I have been feeling really good for over a year and a half. No medication or anything. It's almost like now that the surgery is coming(not sure yet, waiting for ins.) I don't want to do anything. I just basically sit and eat. And then I get depressed because I think that I am going to fail after the surgery happens. I am not sure if I want to go back and see a therapist because I am afraid that they will say I am not mentally competent for the surgery. I am just not sure what to do. Has anyone else experienced this? It's like I'm mourning food before it happens. I'm just really confused and I really do want to get back on track. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks ahead of time,
Kelly
Well this is my experience. What they less know about ,wont hurt them. let me explain...I told the therapist that I experienced throwing up few times just to see what it was like...Now this was like 20 yrs ago I did this.... I told them this,
well, lord behold he gave the insurance co. and dont do....I was postpond for another 2 mo's...so its best not to discuss this with a therapist cause they have to by law report it....to whom ever....
I would if I were you discuss it with friends, family etc...and just do some walking , anything to get your mind off of it.....Surgery, no matter what it may be is a stressful time for anyone....I took it day by day and did a lot of walking and got out and visit...ppl whom I knew understood...This is the best therapy anyone can do for themselves....just mingle....go shopping....do anything but sitting around and thinking about it....If you need me...just email me [email protected]
I know what you are going through. we all been through it....Hope this helps....
