Good Morning Illinois!
Good afternoon Lucy, we are in Shipshewana (Shipshe), IN right now. We both got up at 430 Chgo time because we loose an hour coming to IN. The traffic was pretty heavy even for 515 in the morning when we were just about getting to the Hinsdale Oasis. We got into IN at about 615 Chgo time and were able to listen to christian radio almost the whole way to Nappanee. We stopped at a mansion in Elkhart and had a personal tour of it. The personal tour was because we were the only ones that showed up at the time that we got there. We had a light lunch and drove the countryside to Shipshe and checked into our little hotel. We are staying at Country Inn and Suites and have free wireless internet. Dave is working from across the room from me and I am cruising the internet, mostly on OH.
There are so many farms that have field horses that have had colts and they are so cute to see them running with their mommies in the paddocks. Tonight we go see "Nunsense" at the repretory theather in Nappanee. If you grew up Catholic like I did and went to Catholic schools for 8 or 12 years you will find it a scream. I have seen it once before and thought I would wet my pants laughing during it.
We love to drive the countryside here. We used to come out here at least 2 times a year until we started to investigate the Dells for retirement. We really missed the slow pace here. I am sure we will be glad to get back to civilization on Sunday.
Need to go and respond to others.

I love Shisawana!!!!! I hope to make it there before I go back to Colorado for good this summer.
I am in Lansing Michigan as we speak. I left Chicago at 3pm and It took me 2 hours to drive out of the city down the Dan Ryan in grid lock traffic.
Ya know there are 5seasons in Illinois. Fall Winter Spring summer and Construction. Carla klein
I hope you have loads of fun! I love going to amish country. I think it may be one of my fav places. I go over in Iowa. I once went in ohio to a wal-mart just for a day with my daughter so I could show my grandson that people shop driving a wagon and horse. He went back to kindergartern that Monday all excited to show his pictures and to tell his friends and teachers all about it. The electricity was a joke. You just have a good relaxing time if you can.

Kalona IA Amish area is very small compared to here in IN. Or are you talking about the Amana Colonies in IA? That is not Amish. That is a Luthern sect that lived communally and they used modern items in their homes. They believed in cars and electricity. They also invented Amana refridergeration, you know Amana fridges and air conditioners? The IA Kalona Amish area is about 30 miles from the Amana Colonies. I know all these things because Dave was born in Cedar Rapids which about 30 miles north of the Amana Colonies.
(giggles), yeah I know that the electric thing was a joke I just had to respond, giggles again.

Kalona,Ia. I know you knew it was a joke. I was wanting to get in on the action. If Im going to see you all once a month I better get to know all of you. I kinda like the small communities. I have lived in a small town about 20 miles west of Peoria that has about 900 people in it for the last 30 years. My husband is a truck driver and is gone for about 2 months at a time and I drive a school bus. So I really am shy and have very few friends. So it takes me awhile to open up and start to talk.
