Hi Dee, Seems like we are moving along the same way. Leslie told me the pain could be the inner stitches are pulling or nerve regeneration. Mine seem nbetter today but by night time I am ready for my darvoset. I had a lot of nausea today.no vomiting. Apple sauce saved me today. I never feel like eating. I will look for the spinach and cheese ravioli. I wish we had the same date for Dr F's appt. I really look forward to meeting you. Shar

Sounds like a plan to me..........a group infirmary. I am feeling a bit better today, so I understand this will be an up and down process.

Hi Shar, I hope that you are feeling better. We have the same doctor. I was really tired for the first month or so after surgery. I did go back to work after two weeks. I sit at a desk and had minimal pain, but was dead tired when I got home. I did not have much pain with my incisions, but had horrid burning and pain down my leg for about two months. I would wake in the night as if my leg was on fire. Like you, my surgery was longer than expected to tons of adhesions from a prior abdominal surgery years ago. I was in for about 4 hours, so you sure beat me. I had a bit of a pinched nerve from being on the table so long, I think. I got rid of the pain pills when I got home as they made me feel loopy. I did have some discomfort depending how I sat, but it got better with time. As far as food, I did the jello, chicken broth, instant pudding and unjury protein mix at first. When I moved to puree, I had the small Wendy's Chilli which I would blend to puree it. It tasted like heaven. That small container lasted three or four meals I think. I also bought individual cheese packs that were about 3/4 of a ounce which I had along with cottage cheese. I did do refried beans and never had gas though I think if I recall Dr. F. advises against. I have been very fortunate in that I have not had any bad food experiences, I hope that that continues. I hope that you are feeling better soon, each does get easier and easier. The other day I was thinking how I felt when I was drinking my juice/water combo in those little one ounce cups and how long it took to sip sip sip. We really are like babies, learning all over again. Take care Mary

Hi Mary, I am feeling better, still discomfort but not "crying pain." I've gotta get that Wendy's chili.....everyone talks about it. My big problem now is gas. Every 2 hours I get nauseous and I need to rid my tummy with lots of baby burps. I bought some cheese spread last night,,,,,oh, was that good! I see Dr. F next Thursday...I am looking forward to that. I will probably take off 6-8 weeks from work. My job can be pretty active. How long out are you? Shar

Hi Shar, I am six months out. I do sit at work so I was able to go back sooner. I wanted to attend a training session that had been rescheudled and I would have done prior to my surgery. So even though I was tired, I went. Then I traveled to Madison, WI for an overnight training at the end of my first week back. That trip was the biggest mistake I made. I was not geting enough fiber in and did not pay attention to certain "bathroom needs". As a result with the sitting and the long drive back, I had constipation so bad that I was crying and ready to go the emergency room. Since then, Benefiber is my friend and I have never had that problem again. I will be late for work or anything if I feel the urge, lol Hang in there, you have been through major surgery, it doesn't seem like it since we have had lap RNY instead of open. Each day gets better and before you know it this will be a distant memory. Mary
