New to site

Have been checking out this site as I have had several patient's tell me about it. I'm an orthopedic/ bariatric nurse at Mercy Hospital in Aurora. I got my approval from insurance for surgery a couple of weeks ago. Saw Dr. Rosen in the office today for my last preop visit. I will be having the Lap Band done on June 5th at 7:30am. I'll be spending the night at Mercy. I'll be staying with my parents after surgery and they said they would feel more comfortable if I spent the first night in the hospital. So my co workers are coming up with all kinds of naughty little tricks they can pull on me while they are taking care of me. LOL!!! Of coarse I can think of a few my self. I'm looking forward to the surgery not only for the weight loss benefit of it but also so I will have a better understanding of what my weight loss patient is going through. Maybe I'll get some new insight into things and be able to be a better support for them.

Welcome to the board. I am so happy that you made it to the board to "meet" us. Speaking of "meet" us would you be able to a come to a small get together at my house this coming Sunday from 2-5? I will be hosting pre and PO ladies and guys if there are any out there lurking for a short time of gabbing, gabbing and more gabbing. I also have told others to bring any clothing they may have and we will have a small clothing exchange. Hi Shelley - Welcome to OH and congrats on your upcoming surgery. Dr. Rosen is my surgeon too and I trust you will be in the best hands. He is wonderful and his team of experts are too. What a great family they are. I also had my surgery and Provena Mercy and had wonderful care. I was so sad to hear they discontinued there bariatrics floor. The nurses were absolutely wonderful! I look forward to meeting you at a support group meeting or get together. Dr. Rosen has a support meeting the first Thursday of each month which is tomorrow from 7 - 8:30. Chris posted above, she is having a get together on Sunday and it would be a great opportunity for you to meet the gang that knows what you're going thru. Let us know if you have any questions.. Hey shelley!! I am glad that you got your approval!! I am so happy for you!! Just remember to ask for help if you are in pain!! Because as you remember I kept forgetting to do that!!

Shelley glad to see you made it here to this forum. I know you have worked with us as patients, me just recently, but now if you have any questions feel free to ask....I did and I still do and there are some really great s on here if they don't have an answer they will come back with one sooner or later.
