Hello all! Well I had my weigh in today of course I had to have my TOM and instead of lose I gained 3 and a half pounds. I told the girl so she changed the day I come in on next month. She took all my papers, and then told me I "HAD" to lose something next month. Like I did not feel bad that it showed I gained no matter what the reason. My husband asked me how I gained anything when I eat so little. I told him TOM thats how, but they don't care it shows up as a gain and they want you to lose between 15 and 20 pounds. Oh well, I guess I can only hope next month I make it in after TOM. How frustrating, but I will not give up.

Hi Renee - Don't beat yourself up. It happens. Just stay focused and like you said, don't give up. It will all work out. Are you logging your food intake on fit-day or some other program? That may help you see how many colories, fat, carbs etc you trully are taking in each day. Hang in there. Christina

HI Renee.. I see you are using Dr. Lahmann, are you going thru their medically supervised program? I ask because i was at an infosession there on 4/18...I was going to go with Dr. Joyce but my pcp recommended a different surgeon. I too am one month down with 5 to go!

Yes I am going through their program, I was at the infosession on 4/3. I picked Dr. Lahmann as he did a previous surgery for me and I really like him. He is extremely nice and makes sure you are well informed, he takes the time to answer any and all questions. I did not need a referral, but my sister in law had her gastric bypass done by Dr. Joyce and Dr. Lahmann and she is very happy. I figured I like them, she liked them so I would go with them. I like them, the nurses, and the people who work in the office. They are all nice and they answer any questions you might have. I sure hope I lose weight next month. How did you do on your first weigh in? I hope thats not too personal a question. Just feeling bad about the gain even if it was that TOM. Did your PCP refer you to Dr. Lahmann?

My initial weigh in was 4/20, so my first weigh in I guess would be 4/20. I have my consultation on 5/16. My weigh in was with my PCP. The nurse at the surgeon's office suggested I go thru my PCP rather than their weight management program. She said it would be cheaper, only have to see the PCP not the 3 dr required in the clinics program...but I'm wondering what the insurance would say. Her thinking is that the insurance will pay for the PCP, but may not pay for all the dr's involved in the clinics program. AS long as the PCP notes diet and exercise dialogue! But to answer your question...I'm a little worried. I am so looking forward to the surgery that I have forgotten about the here and now. I get on the scale each day, no real movement but then I realized hey, you aren't doing anything either! I need to go back to exercising. I am watching my food, a little. But I know I need to have some downward movement in order for the ins. co . to be happy! SO I guess I should get cracking....I need to make an appt for my PCP visit to weigh in for 5/20. I liked Dr. Joyce and the center and the staff....but since my dr recommended the other group I thought it might be better to go with them instead.

I have to journal everything I eat, how I am feeling, my mood, how much exercise I do. It is for every meal, snacks included. I am on a strict 1200 calorie diet, although my diet differs from the rest as I am on a gluten free diet. We are also suppossed to exercise 30-60 minutes every day. I started out doing an hour but realized that was too much to start out with even on the Gazelle. Then I went to 30 minutes and went between that and the 60 minutes. Being so heavy is definately hard on the joints. You are right though if the insurance company doesnt see a loss its not good on you. I am going through the program with them, but my insurance has paid them every time except my co pay. Also, I guess just being held accountable with the journal for every day makes it hard to go off the diet. Besides I can't eat just anything, I don't eat any bread because of the gluten and most gluten free items just taste horrible. I would check with your insurance company. I did not need any referral for Dr. Lahmann as he is in my PPO and he had already done a surgery for me. I really like him, he is so nice, and the whole office is very nice. I haven't met anyone there I don't like. I am just hoping my next weigh in goes better. I am following the diet and trying to do what I can to exercise. They said if you cant do walking etc, do upper body exercises. I don't know of any other group, although I do know there is a Dr that goes out of Provena Saint Joe's in Joliet. Good Luck on your weigh in!
