Amazing journey 4 years ago today
Yes, today is my 4 year surgiversary. What an amazing ride it has been. I could not have lost the excess weight without the benefit of WLS. I am so glad that I reached out and found my doctor's group back in early January of '03. From the pre op program to the PO program with their commitment to assisting the patient in maintaining a healthy life style - WOW! I cannot say enough. I have met some amazing people at my support group and the staff keeps you going and going. I have also met some pretty amazing people right here on this board and the rest of OH - keep up the good work everyone.
I can still remember the moment that I woke up in the recovery room, my first thoughts were when can I get up and start walking? I do not remember too much pain; I had been through surgeries before and was prepared for that. One of my first questions when I got to my room was when can I get up and walk? I was not going to have a blood clot catch me. I hit the floor running (figuretively) and have been going ever since.
Thanks for letting me toot my own horn for a short while everyone - WOOHOO!
I just wish Dave were home to celebrate with me. He is in Rhode Island until tomorrow.

Congratulations Chris! You are such an inspiration Lady. You're the poster child you always see in the commercials. It just goes to show, when you stay focused, do the right things, follow your surgeons guidelines and give and get support it all pays off. I'm really proud of you and I appreciate all the support you give. When I grow up and I'm 4 years old, I want to be just like you!!!
Toot that horn girl, you have done a fine, fine job.
Way to go!

"When you grow up . . ." that is cute. Thank you for the part of being proud of me & me giving support. It just comes naturally. I cannot explain it. I like to help people, it is one of my God given spirital gifts. SOMEDAY . . . when I grow up somemore I would like to work in an industry that I can utilize this support.
So, did Calvin have much to say about yesterday? Dave said he had a lot of questions for him. I am SO HAPPY that you brought him. We needed that male side to the mix with the two of them there. And he is handsome. We had the girly side, you ladies got to meet my sister (who I KNOW we look a lot like each other) and then we got to meet the other Mary and had a great time hearing her story and actually got to know how to pronounce her doctor's last name
.

Hey Chris... Calvin really had a nice time and I'm so glad he was able to bond w/ Dave. That's all he has talked about for the last 24hrs is you, Dave and wls. I may have created a monster! He's going to make an appointment w/ Dr. Rosen and at least see what his options are. I had first tried to encourage him to consider the weight management program that Dr. R is setting up but if he qualifies for wls that would be the way to go. We just don't know w/ his liver problems but we won't know if we don't check it out.
Have a nice evening.
