6 month eval questions
I am two months into my six month eval period for insurance. I have been going to a bariatric physician (not affiliated with WLS surgeon) but I'm not really sure I'm getting the full scope of the evaluation. I kind of feel like I'm just being pushed through the system. I didn't even speak to him the second visit. The nurse took my vitals and I explained that I needed to have the visit documented and a form signed. She took the paperwork, filled in some of the blanks and took it to the Dr. for me. She came back with the signed sheet and said I was ok to go. I know that the 6 month eval period is somewhat of a catch 22, lose too much and you don't qualify, lose too little and you are denied...
I'm concerned that by just pushing the paperwork through and not really documenting things properly is going to hurt me in the long run.
1. Should I just I document things on my own? Diet, excercise, etc
2. Should I look for a new Dr. or will this look bad to the ins. co?
3. I also have to have a psych and diet eval. Should these be done earlier or later in the evaluation period?
I guess I'm just looking for a little guidance. I don't personally know anyone who has been through this and I'm feeling a little lost right now.
Thanks,
Kari
Hi Kari-
Congratulations on taking the first steps to a healthier you. I'm sorry I can't answer all of your questions but I do think if I felt like I was just getting pushed thru the system, I would ask to personally speak w/ the doctor and express my concerns. They don't know what your thinking unless you tell them. Most people probably want to be jut pushed thru that way they don't really have to deal w/ the issue at hand. I applaud you for wanting to educate yourself and do the right thing. I would go ahead and schedule the psych eval. I did not have to have a diet eval unless that was done by the nutritionist.
Hang in there.. the process can be overwhelming at times.
I live in Warrenville so we live pretty close. If you ever need to talk and want to get together for coffee etc.. just let me know.
