Waiting Game Begins!!
I went to see Dr Kane today in Elk Grove and I got the jitters....I was suppose to also go to the other office(in Arlington Heights) and sign a contract.....I did not understand this and went home after I saw the Dr. I now have to call and find out about this contract??? I dont understand. Dr say he will submit to the insurance and it will be about 2-3 weeks till I find something out. I will then have to go to psyc and lung and nut so I am a little worried about the entire process.....Is this how it goes?

P.S. Mapquest did not say that 296 was messed up

Hi Shannon. Yes, we have construction going on I-294.
I had to sign a contract but that was because I was self-pay. I would suggest you call the Bariatric department at the office to find out what you need to sign and what it is for.
As far as the appointments go, yeah they first submit your information to the insurance company and wait to hear from them. If you get approved on the first try, then the office will call you to set up your appointments. They will not set up any appointments until they get insurance approval. If you are a self-pay, that's different. Then you sign a contract, have to pay part of the surgeon's fee, I think it's half of his fee. Then they will schedule your tests and refer you to the pulmonologist, etc.
Sorry you had gotten the jitters! I hope you liked Dr. Kane. He is very personable and a skilled surgeon.
Please ask away any questions!
Hugs,
Lucy

It seemed like forever waiting for some news. I actually followed up w/ a call about two weeks into to it and found out "they never rcvd my paperwork".. UGH! I'm sure it had gotten lost in the shuffle so you may want to follow up w/ them just to make sure they did indeed get your paperwork. I then worked directly w/ the nurse that was reviewing my case and asked her what other info I needed to provide. That is when I had to get ahold of my doc in Indy and have them pull my files from a warehouse and copy tons of info on my trials and tribulations of trying to lose weight. I also submitted a letter to them explaining how my weight had put a burden not only on myself but my spouse and family. I just really worked it up.
Try not to get too crazy about it. Easier said then done.
