Strange letter

I go get my mail today and I get a letter from an inmate in prison in Vienna, IL!! :angst: Funny I dont know him and he wants to be pen pals. :chair: Funny I dont remember signing up for a pen pal program!! I have no idea how this guy got my name and address. I think my best bet is to ignore him?? Any suggestions

I looked him up on inmate search and he is a sex offender. I guess I am freaked out that he got my name and address

very weird. If it were me id call the prison and see what they have to say about it. id be freaked out.

A year or so ago my daughter got a "pen pal" letter from an inmate too. He said he wanted a friend. She called the prison he was in and was told he was getting released soon and was looking for someone to make a home with. She was asked if her name for any reason was in the paper recently. It had been for he up coming marriage.They told her thats how the find a female to write in hopes they will be single and  get one to except him in when released. The warden asked her to send the letter to him and if anymore came to refuse them so they would be returned. So I say call the prison and see whats going on. My daughter has a little boy and was pregnat(sp) with her second. She was very frightened. I think if they tell you to send it to the warden they tell him to leave you along not sure?  Karen

I would contact the facility that he is incarcerated at and express your concern about receiving the letter from him and that you do not want any contact with him.

I just read an article in the paper about this.  This is happening quite a bit in Illinois, and to notify the authorites.
