Liquid diet
Started on my 10 day liquid diet Saturday. It's been hard. Especially when I have a 10 year old at home that have to fix meals for. It seems like the hardest time is at night when I sit down to watch some TV to relax. I really want a snack bag of popcorn. Guess I didn't realize how much of a habit that had become. Had sugar free jello at the one Memorial Day get together I went to. MD wants me to keep Carbs ideally below 20 grams a day but definitely under 40 grams. I'm Suppose to keep protein at 80-100 grams per day. Most of the protein powders at Walmart wouldn't let me do this. However, I was tuned into the fact that Shaklee has protein powder, that doesn't flavor the food, that will give you 16 grams of protein (soy) with less than 1 gram of carbs per serving. Not too bad actually. Just makes my drinks a little chalky. Seems all the protein mixes I've tried are much better when blended with ice. Have lost 16 pounds since starting the diet on Saturday. Only other complaint I have is about how often I have to go to the bathroom. But I'm keeping my eye on the bigger picture. Seven days until surgery!!
Just remember all the patients you have helped after surgery. We all went through it and now its your turn. I would like to tell you it gets easier but..................I'd be lying. There is a big reward though when its over just keep that in your mind. I can remember watching tv and had strong urges to eat. When that happened I'd read, sew or go for a long bath. It helped me get through it. I also went to bed as soon as the grandkids did. Keep on doing exactly what your doing you'll be done before you know it.
