Home finally
Hi all. Just wanted to let you know all is going well. Just came home from my parent's house this evening. Had my last dose of pain meds at 6am when I got up to do my heparin shot this morning. Will probably take a dose just before bed. Just now starting to be able to get in all my fluids for the day. Although I've been very careful about getting in my protein drinks and my water. Don't always get in the juice or the broth. Looking forward to pureed food on Tuesday. Have heard lots of good things about pureed chili, so am planning on making chili Tuesday. Dr. Rosen told me Wednesday before I left the hospital that he had expected me to have pain at the port site because he had hit a blood vessel when suturing in the port. Boy was he right. But like I said earlier it's much, much better. So nice to be back in my own home. I'm getting in lots of walking. Any way now that I'm home I can check in a little more regularly. By the way 3 more pounds and I can say goodbye to 300 for good. Yea!!! See you all here later. See Dr Rosen's group at the next support meeting, promise!!

Shelley,
Welcome home! I am going through the same group you did. Dr. Walace will probably be doing my surgery. Did you have to stay over night at the hospital? And if so, for how long? I am so happy for you! This is a new chapter of your life! How old is your daughter? I have a 5 year old! Enjoy your summer with her!!!

I'm not familiar with a Dr. Walace. I had mine done by Dr. Rosen at Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora. I hear there's also a Mercy in Chicago. I didn't have to spend the night after surgery but I did. Since I was going home with my parents and its a 45 min drive back to the hospital from their place if complications did occur, Dr Rosen agreed to let me stay the night. It made Mom feel much more comfortable about taking me home. Since I work at that hospital on the Bariatric floor I felt comfortable staying as well as I knew my coworkers would take very good care of me. And they did. My daughter is 10yrs old. She's been helping with my heparin shots. She won't poke the needle through the skin but she wants to push the medicine in after I have the needle in the skin. LOL.
Glad your able to go home. I did ask Dr R on Thursday if he was taking good care of you!!!You said you were doing great. My favoirte pureed meal was the soup on hand potatoe soup. It is pureed just right and no chuncks at all. I would add a small amount of a cheese to add extra protein and it was great....Oh and there was a mushroom in that soup too.
Wel congrats on getting that 300 pound number to disappear. I am working on getting the 200 gone forever. With this 3rd fill I think I can do it because the restriction is good.
Rest and take it easy you will be going back to work before you know it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
