Traveling while on pureed

Hi guys.  Planning on going with my Mom to visit a cousin in Kansas City, Kansas this weekend.  We usually stop about 3 times during our drive to get out and stretch our legs as well as get a bite to eat.  Any suggestions on what to bring to snack on or reasturant  ideas for the pureed diet?  Mom said I could bring a small cooler so I can have my snacks But other than jello or pudding, I'm not sure what to take.  I'm packing my magic bullet to take to my cousins so that's not an issue.  Just not sure what to do about the road trip. One of the ladies I Met at support group Thursday said she would order soup at restraunts she would ask them to puree it. She said she never had any trouble getting this done.

Slimfast makes a low carb version which is high protien and easy to take along in a cooler.  For my protein shakes I like the Isopure better but for a quick meal that packs a protein puch and is easy to tote along in a cooler this should do the trick.

Shelley, I was going to suggest what Karen did but I will take it a step further. Maybe you can take a pureed couple of servings (eat one at a time, HAHA) with you and ask the restaurant if they can zap it real slow in the microwave for you, if it is a hot serving. I would explain that you are on a very restricted diet (explain about surgery if you want). Leave a fair tip for the wait staff for their services etc. Some other things that you can puree are tuna, egg salad, ham salad, chicken salad (no nuts) and cottage cheese. These things can be just kept in the cooler. I had canned baby food with a little bit of salt to zip up the taste. For some these are not palletable. I would say that you should stop more often than the times that you are. You still need to be cognizant of blood clots. Heck even for me on the drive home I was instructed to get out and walk at the half hour mark and I live only 45 minutes from Mercy. Dr Rincon still wanted me to walk at that 1/2 mark. Dave made it home in a 1/2 hour because I was so afraid to walk due to the fact that there were 50MPH winds that day and I was afraid to be blown down!  Christine
