Newbie here!
I've posted once or twice but thought I'd make an official introduction!
My name is Lisa. I'm 29, and from Southern Illinois. I'm married and have three kids at home. Our twin boys will be 3 next month and our girl will be 2 in September. I'm mostly a stay at home mom. I'm an Avon representative and the president and founder of a nonprofit organization for pregnancy and infant loss support.
I have always been overweight and have stuggled with it since high school. I'm currently at 258, my highest ever. After my twins were born, I actually dropped down to 170 doing a low carb diet. The problem with that was I was always extremely hungry. I got pregnant again just months after the boys were born and gained all this weight back with that pregnancy. I've tried keeping track of calories, carbs & fat while going to Curves and I'm still not losing anything. It's time for me to look into this.
I'm at the very beginning. I see my family doctor in a few weeks and will ask her for a referral to a surgeon. My aunt is on this board and she's about 2 months post-op.
Lisa, welcome to the IL board. Thank you for telling us about yourself. I have been around for practically forever I feel sometimes. I am 4 years out and my DH is coming up on the 4 year mark also. We both had open RNY. Both are maintaining our weight loss and loving life to the fullest.

Hi Lisa -
Welcome to the IL Board. Sounds like those little ones keep you on your toes. Let us know how your appointment goes w/ your doc.
I had open gastric bypass on 8/30/06, to date, I've lost 163lbs and have around 70ish to lose in order to get to my first goal. I don't ever remember being 170 so I don't know if that's where I want to be. For now, I'll just take it one day at a time. It was the best choice I ever made.
Take care and good luck on your journey,
Christina
