University of Chicago Hospital

I was wondering how many are going or has went to the University of Chicago Hospital for there surgery. My surgery is set for june 28th with Dr. John Alverdy and i am having the duodenal switch (DS). So far I have been pleased with this hospital and the Dr. my girfriend had the same surgery on june 4th. first visit post op she had lost 17.5 pounds.  thanks ron

Hi Ron, I had the ds there 10-17. Dr. Prachand was my surgeon.

I was going to go there. I went to the informational and signed up on line. They said 6 month wait I waited 8 months and then called and I was still 40 people down on the waiting list. She said it would be another 10 months so I said thanks for lying and wasting my time . I ended up going with Dr Frantzides who actually use to be the head of the u of c bariatrics. I have heard good things about u of c if you actually get to use them. I am glad I went with my surgeon he is the best in his field. best wishes to a fast uneventful surgery complications free :)   dee

Hey Ron, I am looking into going to the University of Chicago. At first I was going to check out Dr. Cahill at Little Company of Mary but.. he's out of network. I have researched Dr. Prachand and I think he may be a winner. I am curently in month 2 approaching month 3 of a physicians based 6 month diet (requirements of Cigna) Once I complete month 4 a rep from the University told me to register online and they would contact me in 2 weeks to get the party started .
