Has anyone had Dr. Kane Jr. from Arlington Heights, IL

My doctor is Dr. Kane Jr. from Arlington Heights, IL.  He is affiliated with Alexian Brothers Medical Center. If anyone has any info that would help me I would love to hear from you! Sharen

Sharen, I am also pre-op.I have Dr. Pual Guske, who is in the same office as Dr. Kane. I have had some experience with Alexian Bros, since I was there in April and May, with open heart surgury. It is a great hospital system, and the Kane Center people are great. While I was going for pre testing, the cardio dr refused to past me for wls, until I went in for heart surgery. So, my decison to have wls, forced me to have the heart surgery that I had been putting off.  I hope that I am approved to proceed with wls within the next month. I guess the best thing to say is, they will make sure you are in the best shape possible, before you go for the surgery. Good luck, and hoping that we are both on the losers side shortly Lisa

Hi Sharen - Don't get discourage with the "no replies" you are getting.  The board is typically slow on the weekend but I trust some of these ladies will step up and reply when they can.

Dr. Rantis from that group was my surgeon, but Dr. Kane took care of me in the hospital over the Memorial week-end, and he was great.  Anyone in that group is top-notch and the staff goes over and above to help you.  You're in good hands.Good luck and God be with-Janet K

I also am pre-op and going through the Kane Center for my lap band.  I am about 4months into my 6 month supervised diet from my PCP.  Dr. Wallace did my seminar and he seemed very nice and everyone I have talked is soooo sweet!  I also had my pre-op coun. w/ Dr. Wallace and his bedside manner is awesome!  You can't find a better group!  They don't call it a center of excellance for nothing!!!!!!  Good luck w/ your upcoming surgery.  You found the right board if you have any questions!!!  Everyone has been so great and helpful to me through this process!!! Hi Kim, Thanks for the encouragement!  Please keep me informed as to your WLS date and time...approval etc!  I am pulling for you!  I think Dr. Wallace held the intro meeting I went to last summer.  I thought he was really knowledgable, with a great bedside manner...and good looking too!  That always helps! I am having a lap-band with Dr Wallace this week.  I'll definitely let you know how it goes. 

I'm scheduled with Dr. Wallace 7/24/07.  Please post back and let us know how everything goes.  I love Dr. Wallace and all the surgeons in that group.   I did have a rather shocking meeting with Dr. Wallace where he seemed impatient and rushed with my questions and my progress.  Maybe he was just having a bad day......   :(

My Doctor is Dr. Wallace from that physician group, but Dr. Kane Jr. peformed a pretty complicated hernia surgery on me a couple years ago.  Dr Kane is kind, compassionate and IMHO a very good surgeon.  I don't think you can go wrong with anyone from the group.   Dr. Kane Sr (now retired) performed two surgeries on other family members and everything with those surgeries was fine too.   They are all nice and helpful although I have found out a couple of times, I had to be persistent to get information from the office staff. You are in great hands!

my surgeon was dr. rantis from the kane center. that whole group is just outstanding!!! don't worry. and the hospital is very nice - i was just there for my surgery last monday 6/18. best of luck to you!!!! bridget
