you're welcome!!! i am doing fantastic., thank you!!! i had almost no pain. i only pushed the pain button 3 times in 24 hours and no pain meds necessary after i was released.  the biggest problem for me = GAS. haha. with the laproscopic banding proceedure there is so much air trapped in there. other than that i am hungry with the lap band because full liquids slip through the band into my normal stomach without restriction. i am looking forward to moving up to mushy foods like cottage cheese that will stay in my band longer.

are you having a laproscopic RNY? what are you most excited about? i found that focusing on the exciting parts got me through the nerves. :) keep in touch! bridget

Yes, I am having RNY-Lap.  I am the most excited about being approved for the procedure.  I started this whole process about five years ago, when my sister had the RNY-open procedure done.  I thought I could lose the weight by myself...after my health condition began a rapid decline...it became very clear to me that WLS was my only hope.  In 2005 I was medically cleared, but my insurance co. denied all WLS.  I was really brokenhearted...it was after that, that I found out that Medicare covered it with only one co-morbidity.  I started the process of being approved for ss disability.  I was approved in May 2005.  I had to wait for two years before I could be covered with medicare insurance.  So on May 3rd I had my initial appointment.  I was approved for surgery!  I was told to lose 30 lbs. before surgery.  I have lost only about 25 lbs.  His office scheduled me for surgery on June 22.  Then they called to reschedule my procedure due to an out of town emergency on Dr. Kane's behalf.  So, hopefully...I will have the procedure this Friday!  I have all of the co-morbidities that they mention.  So I am really anxious to get my life back!  I truly feel blessed!

Sharen, Dr. Kane performed my surgery on 5-22-07 and he is good . 6 weeks out and I have lost 30#. The stay at Alexian was great after surgery. The care is good and the nurses understand your needs.  His whole office is caring and understanding. Good luck in your quest.
