pleasantly surprised

Told my 10 year old daughter last night that she looked as if she had lost some weight.  She's 5' 2" and was 172lbs.  Had her get on the scale this morning and she has lost 10lbs.  There isn't any junk food in the house any more.  She walks with me nightly as well as is playing softball and swimming (her favorite). She had been picking up my old eating habits (one of the many reasons I wanted to have my surgery done now rather than wait till she was older).  She was so excited about her loss she wanted me to get on the scale too.  I am now down to 283lbs.  22 lbs lost since surgery and 41lbs altogether since starting this journey.  I'm feeling so good that I'm going to take my daughter and a friend in to Brookfield Zoo tomorrow. Can't wait to do all that walking.  Am packing a cooler full of water and good things to eat. Shelley

Congrats to you and your daughter on the weight loss so far!!!  Perhaps with you you setting the example like you have your daughter won't have to go through anything like the surgery!!  Brookfield Zoo is a walk but a nice one at that and look at all the things you get to see walking around~  Be sure to keep us posted not just on you but your daughter as well~

Shelly, tell her great job from me.  Great accomplishment especially for a teen who would much rather eat all the junk food they can get their hands on. You have a lot to be proud of mom you are instilling great eating habits in her now when she can easily make the transition.  Also, great job yourself, keep up the good work!  Chris
