New to the board

Hi everyone - my name is Pat and I live in Des Plaines.  I am in the beginning steps of planning for WLS - will be meeting with my regular doc Friday to discuss my 6 months requirement for the insurance company.   Question - my biggest fear at this point is that I will not want to go through with the surgery once I begin to lose weight during my six months.  Anyone else have this problem?  How do you keep the momentum going? Thanks guys.

Hi princesspat,   Welcome to the Illinois board.    I never went thru not wanting the surgery in fact I wanted it more after my 6 month diet.....Just go ahead and do the 6 month diet.... doesn't mean you have to do surgery, that will be totally up to you!   Im sure you will get  the support and some answers here on this board.                                                                                                                Pam

Can't really answer your question about the six months and then afterwards but wanted to welcome you to the board. There are times the board is slow due to the summer so do not fret if you do not get an answer right away.  Christine

I did start losing weight with the 6 month diet but I knew that it would not last if i did not have the surgery. With so many failed attempts before I knew surgery was my only option. Welcome to the boards

I'm so glad I found this board!  I can understand your feelings since I haven't had surgery yet either.  I have my first consultation with the surgeon on July 18.  However, I can say the more I read on this fabulous website which I just found in the past week, all the positive energy I get from it makes me want to go forward asap.  I can't wait.

By the way, PrincessPat, I wish I had thought to use that name when I signed up on this website. Especially since so many people call me that!
