Carla, wow. We were supposed to have winds that strong yesterday but ended up not having them. Some of the southern 'burbs (Naperville & Bolingbrook) had the stronger storms. I decided to no****er the lawn and waste my money, just my potted plants.  We have an ordinance in place for watering but it is the Village's decision if they enforce it. We have Lake Michigan water and that is the only reason for the ordinance.   Christine

Hi all.  Just putzing around the house.  Missing my daughter and already counting down the days until she returns.  We had so much rain tha****er was standing higher than I've seen in the last 10 years.  We had flash flood warnings and alot of trees and lines down.  Then you all know how bad my luck has been with all my appliances dying one by one since I've been off work.  Well I'm sure you guessed it by now, My sump pump died last night.  Luckily nothing got ruined in the basement but my brother-in-law and Dad did have to run over And save the day.  Dad ran to Menards and got me a new sump pump and my brother-in-law managed somehow to get mine to give a one last ditch effort before it died for good and we were able to get most of the water out of my basement before my Dad got back.  Told my Mom that I was starting to wonder if this was a sign that I wasn't suppose to have this surgery done!! LOL  I know these things probably would have broken down anyway but at least I would have been working and would have been better able to replace everything.  But with the sump pump if I had been working things would have been worse in the basement.  Shelley

Shell, the appliance issue is just age. Don't put too much into the surgery/appilance issue time frame. It just happens and appliances have a shorter life span in these days. Gone are the times like when Dave and I got married and our appliances lasted 30+ years like our washing machine did recently. They just do not make them to last anymore. It is called "planned obsolesence". It is just a good thing that you were home and found the problem, it could have been worse with the sump pump. Your baby will be home from camp soon enough. Was it a nice camp like I had said it was? Christine

Your right about the appliances not lasting as long.  The sump pump, food disposal, and tv were 18 yrs old, the washer and dryer were 9 yrs old, the box fans were only about 2yrs old.  I had to replace my furnance this last winter so it was 18 yrs old.  I'm hoping the central air makes it through this summer and I'll replace it this next year. I didn't go with to drop her off at camp so I don't know how nice it was.  Her Dad and his fiancee took her.  They offered to let me go with but I don't think I want to be trapped in a car that long with the 2 of them.  They are also picking her up from camp.  I'll get to hopefully see pictures.  She hasn't called for a ride home yet, which I take as a good sign that she's having lots of fun. Good evening. I know I haven't posted, but I tend to just lurk..... I am getting very excited I go see my surgeon for my first visit this Friday and they say it will only be about 3 months after that until my date.    Its getting closer, just not going as fast as I'd like.  But then again, I know it will "sneak" up on me and be happening very fast. Hope everyone has a great week.   Cindy

Cindy, so glad that you joined us and came out of the shadows and stopped lurking. Your time will go faster than you think between your appointment and your date. Christine
